Wanted: Veg*n Wedding

Those two items rarely go together, right? So yeah. I'm a vegetarian, mostly vegan (I use a product with beeswax in it, so I won't really call myself vegan). I don't eat meat, fish, poultry, dairy, eggs and anything derived from such. I own old leather and I don't plan on buying anything new. I don't own silk, nor do I want any.

If that weren't enough, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a wedding. I don't. I would much rather put money towards something tangible like real estate.

Call me crazy.

So, I'm blogging about my experiences to help some of you out there and to hopefully get some help and suggestions from others!

Hilarious (especially the pumpkin gnocchi comments below). I feel the exact same way about specially-offered vegan dishes, too (baffling, shocking, and especially baffling).

I think too many businesses still equate 'vegan' with 'poor'. How that's possible with so many vegan celebrities is beyond me. That's the worst part for me. I'm shallow, I'm frivolous and I love spending money. I wish it weren't so difficult for people to hear that after I tell them that I'm also vegan.

Instead, they act as though I want special service or that somehow I'm trying to put one over on them. when all I want to do if give them the same or greater money for the same or less cost to them in exchange. I shake my head.

Anyhow, good luck with the vegan wedding prep!

Hey, good for you, Nikki! I'm not married, and not getting married anytime soon, but one of my friends had a vegetarian wedding reception about 10 years ago. There were so many great foods! Roasted veggies were something i had about five servings of!

You read Veg News, right? They always have vegan wedding info and photos from some. Maybe you can get more ideas from that than your typical bridal magazine.

I wish I could photograph your day. :( I'm so sad that I'm already working that day. :(

So this new blog is where you have been. I agree with investing in real estate that will bring you many more memorable days instead of throwing it one day that will give you a single memory. Other than some red pepper sage foccacia bread that I baked for someone else's vegan wedding dinner once (they serve black beans soup and some fancy dessert with various salads also). I wish you the best!
